Dr. Goodwin's repertoire includes working with people who have athletic or employment related injuries, degenerative diseases, digestive disorders and other conditions that cause chronic pain. We offer treatments that can help the body be on the way to healing itself, through a combination of spinal adjustments, physical therapy, nutritional counseling, exercise, stretching, and education about ways to prevent further injury.
The initial visit will include an exam as well as treatment, and is followed by a personal treatment plan tailored for each person's special needs. Dr. Goodwin spends time talking with his patients to learn the source and nature of their problems, and ways they can achieve changes that not only ease their pain, but add a sense of vitality to their lives. Rewards of the treatments can go far beyond relief from pain and tension.
He says those who make (sometimes very simple) alterations in their living patterns - adding a walk on the beach, introducing more fiber to their diets, taking vitamins, getting more regular sleep - find they have enhanced their overall sense of well-being. Some find they have "waited to see if it will go away" for so long, they have lost touch with their physical condition. They are not aware of how much distress their body suffers until they find relief.
Through the 37 years that Dr. Goodwin has devoted himself to his patients, Dakota Health Center has become a place of solace for many individuals, with many frequenting on a regular basis over the course of decades.
